SOUTH 24 PARGANAS

 

About the district:

    South 24 Parganas is an administrative district of West Bengal with its headquarters at Alipore. It is bounded by Howrah in the west, North 24 Parganas in the northern & eastern sides and Sundarbans in the south. The Sundarbans is the largest mangrove forests. These forests spread over an area of some 9630 sq. kms. of which 70% of the area is under saline water .
